A Monday Memory....
Can you believe we actually used these as purses back in the early '70's?
Friends of mine made me a similar one for my birthday using a metal lunchbox.
They applied multiple cutouts on the outside, then protected it with a clear sealant.
Inside it was lined with green felt.
Not at all practical given the tiny handle,
but lots of fun.
Then a dear college friend made me this, using an old cigar box. It's held up well and sits pride on place on one of our shelves.
Maybe it's time to bring back decoupage given our current isolating situation.
"Such fun!"
as they say on the British "Miranda" tv show.

Wednesday's Wisdom....
Wise words!
My mother used to instruct family and friends who were going through a tough time to do the following:
"Go into the kitchen and
set the timer for ten minutes.
Then sit down and feel good and sorry for yourself.
Cry, scream, whatever.
When the timer goes off, pick yourself up and go about your day."
We need to acknowledge our feelings.
Really feel them.
Then we can deal with them.
Then we can move on.

A Monday Memory....
March 1967 - 8 Adults - 43 Cadets
I came across this rolled up photograph recently of our Girl Scout trip to Washington DC during our Easter vacation. My Mom, a Scout Leader, is top row, sixth from the left.
I'm sporting my "cat's eye" glasses, third from the left, middle row.
(Notice that we are all wearing white cotton gloves. In light of today's pandemic, maybe it's time to bring those back!)
I don't remember very much of that particular trip. One thing that stands out is waiting on line for hours to go into the White House, finally reaching the gate, only to be turned away because some diplomat had arrived and they were closing the tours for security reasons. So long waiting lines are nothing new to me.
Daughter #2 and family were scheduled to go to DC this past weekend but due to the Stay At Home Order they had to cancel. Here's hoping that next year everyone will be able to roam our beautiful world, healthy and worry free.

Friday Fotos....
The Englishman gave me a Click and Grow Indoor Gardening Kit for my birthday a short while ago. It sits nicely on our kitchen counter. I simply dropped in the pods for lettuce, tomatoes, basil and flowers, then filled the tank with water. Easy Peasy!
The seeds sprouted quickly! So quick in fact that it wasn't long before I was transplanting them and putting them under another lighting set up I have.
We've been enjoying the lettuce and basil and are looking forward to the tiny tomatoes!
Wishing one and all who are celebrating
Easter and Passover good health and peace!
And let us all STAY HOME!!

A Monday Memory....
Anyone else
remember these days....
Long lines and strict limitations are nothing new to those of us who survived
the so-called "energy crisis" of the 1970's.
It certainly felt like this mode of filling our tanks would go on forever, but thankfully it didn't.

It certainly felt like this mode of filling our tanks would go on forever, but thankfully it didn't.
I'm hopeful that the same will be true for the current waiting lines and the extremely short supplies of toilet paper, kleenex, paper towels and bleach in stores.
Like Gloria Gaynor, who stated so emphatically in 1978,
"I Will Survive!"
And so too may we all - with or without paper goods.
